I specialize in all breeds, all sizes of/and every horse or pony so owners needs can be met exactly, ensuring their new tails are always a perfect match.

Supreme Tails has tails in stock, all year round. Black and all shades of red through to dark chestnuts are always available.
Please be aware that all grey/white/cream and translucent tails that come into stock are sold before they hang, so an order will need to placed.
First, second and third on the order list is established by a sample from the middle of the horses dock as well as a sample of the full length of the tail, then a measurement from the bottom of the dock to where it is to be cut off at/or have natural at the ends.

That is where the colour, thickness and the length of the false tail comes into play, because not all customers will have the same colour sample, length and thickness needs.

There are 4 thickness’s available:
Standard - One tail that you add to your horses tail (filler for a good tail),
Extra Thick – A thicker tail for the horse that does not have a very good tail.
Double - 2 tails sewn together
Triple - 3 tails sewn together
And lastly the ‘yes’ wait for it
Quadruple - 4 tails sewn together

Procedure

Take a sample from the middle of the dock (as explained for grey tails previously) and the full length of the tail (enough to put a rubber band on)
Then measure from the bottom of the dock to where the tail is to be cut off at or have natural at the ends
Please note to measure to the finest point for natural ends.

I specialize in the chewed and/or damaged tail, working to restore the full beauty of a perfect tail again with any thickness and any length with my exclusive half wrap (it does wonders) this is very simple to apply and can be put in the night before as it doesn’t put any pressure on the dock.

My tails are hand-sewn to a fine point and do not look false as there is no unnatural sway, they sit flush to the horse with no movement and are colour and length matched to perfection including the texture.

All instructions are available for all applications of tails, wraps and forlocks, it’s very easy and very simply explained.

How to put a false tail in

Go to the back of the horse,

Spread the hair at the back of the dock bone,

Go up one and a half inches from the bottom of the dock and take 3 sections for the platt,

Then once you have put the loop through one section platt down a further one and a half inches put on rubber band and cut square in the holding tail carriage position.

The false tail falls just underneath the dock bone so there is not sway.

If you attach the tail at the bottom of the dock there will be a sway.

Please note that although the colour black doesn’t warrant a sample, the only information I do need is the texture eg; fine, medium or coarse.

The first one is ‘The Young Black Stallion’ filmed in South Africa.

The second one is ‘wait for it,’ yes ‘Racing Stripes The Movie’, also filmed in South Africa, I even invented the Zebra forlock and made 36 of them.
My work stands out in this movie by way of the work on the shety’s mane, forlock and tail
Then there is Mandy the Arab (known as Sandy) or visa versa, she had different highlights put in her mane, sometimes a honey tinge and sometimes a rose pinky tinge.
Then there is the clydy standing high in the moonlight with a silver black flowing mane and forlock and of coarse all of the other equine stars in the movie.

Then for Basmark productions, Fox Studios there will be the Box Office Premier ‘fingers crossed’ filmed partly in Bowen, Qld, ‘AUSTRALIA The Movie’ starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
We are all yet to see it and all of the manes, tails and forlocks are made exclusively by Julie Thatcher of Supreme tails.

The most recent movie since Australia is a kids television show called Pony Power not yet screened, manes, tails and forlocks made by myself for the show with one of the stars as a Unicorn

Famous UK breeder and trainer Jarome Harforth, when he tells his students and colleges ‘ you need a false tail’ they don’t argue, in fact, he will go no further than ‘Supreme Tails’.
